Visiting Hindu temples and Buddhist stupa and monasteries located in the Kathmandu valley:
It’s been said that in Nepal between two buildings there must be a monastery or temple; every other day there
must be a festival. The Kathmandu Valley was once known as the ‘abode of the gods’, perhaps because of the
amazing number of shrines of every shape and size on every street. Here in the valley, Hinduism and Buddhism
have co-co-existed for centuries, the two religions mingling with each other and sometimes seemingly
inseparable

Bouddhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world, stands as a majestic symbol of Buddhism. Its massive mandala, topped with the all-seeing eyes of Buddha, attracts monks, locals, and visitors who circumambulate the stupa, spinning prayer wheels and chanting mantras. Bouddhanath is not only a center for Tibetan Buddhism but also a serene sanctuary for meditation and reflection, offering a profound sense of peace amidst the chaos of daily life. Kapan monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery located on a hilltop north of the Bouddhanath stupa. It offers a range of teachings and retreats, particularly focusing on meditation, philosophy and Buddhist practice. The monastery is popular for its serene environment with beautiful gardens and a panoramic view of the Kathmandu valley. It attracts visitors not only for its spiritual teachings but also for the tranquility it offers away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Pashupatinath temple is one of the most significant Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple dates back to 400 AD and is one of the oldest and most revered Shiva temples in the world. The temple complex is recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site and is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus. It is built in the pagoda style with a golden roof, silver doors and intricately carved wooden rafters. The temple is located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River where Hindu cremation rituals take place. We attend the evening praying on the riverbanks which is a spiritual and visually mesmerizing experience for you. The temple is especially vibrant during Maha Shivaratri festival. Kathmandu Durbar Square, located in the heart of the capital, is a sprawling complex of palaces, courtyards, and temples, including the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, the residence of Malla kings. The square is a vibrant testament to the Newar craftsmanship, with intricately carved wooden windows, statues, and pagoda-style temples like the Taleju Temple and the Kumari Ghar, home to the living goddess – kumari. It is a must visit for anyone interested in history, architecture and the rich cultural heritage of Nepal. It is one of the 10 UNESCO world heritage sites located in Nepal.

The Patan Durbar Square and the Bhaktapur Durbar Square feature many numbers of beautiful architectural ancient buildings, temples, and palaces that reflect the feel of nostalgia of Nepal's monarchial days perfectly. The Durbar Squares of both cities are listed under the UNESCO World Heritage Sites List, and both play a significant role in the perseverance and preservation of Nepal's history and artistic integrity. The fine unique Nepali art and the distinctive architecture of the buildings are pretty enthralling to observe up close. The intricate ornamentation and cravings of the buildings' doors, walls, and windows are fascinating to look at and are sure to be enthralling. The Bhaktapur - Patan tour presents excursions to historically significant sites in the old cities of Nepal.
